JCares: Community Mobilization

JCares is an initiative rooted in Jewish values of repairing the world, caring for one another, and making a local impact. This social action project aims to address poverty in Toronto through MNjcc service programs that support local communities.

Current Projects

Knit Together
We welcome fibre arts crafters of all skill levels to come together to knit, crochet, connect, and contribute to the greater good as part of our new JCares mobility initiative. With a pay-it-forward focus, this group will produce knitted goods for local unhoused Toronto communities while engaging in creative expression, making new friends, and repairing the world one stitch at a time! Led by local educator and author of "Knittishisms", Rosanne Bernard. Register for a single session or sign up for for all five!

For more information please email Esther Arbeid, esthera@mnjcc.org

Past Projects

During our 2025 summer we collected over 1,000 bottles of water to support people living outside in Toronto during the heat waves.

In March of 2025 we hosted a collection drive for The Period Purse (TPP). TPP creates menstrual equity by ensuring sustainable access to period products for all. We collected 1,584 individual products! Thank you to all of those who donated.

When we began this initiative in the summer of 2024, we partnered with Ve'ahavta to distribute thousands of hygiene items donated by so many of you; thank you for your generosity! Check out our TikTok page to watch some of the unboxing videos!
