Description

Position Summary

A young family’s need for guidance, social connection, a sense of community, as well as structured programming and childcare, represents a significant opportunity for increased Jewish communal engagement. At the same time, trends in the Jewish community show that in order to reach under engaged young families, we need to meet them outside of mainstream Jewish institutions and spaces. Jewish connection and opportunities need to exist in communities and be authentic, relevant and brought directly to their doorstep.

We are looking for two outgoing, community-minded individuals to join our Jewish Life team as Family Connectors, for families with pre-school aged OR elementary school aged kids. These part-time contract roles focus on building personal relationships with families and helping them explore Jewish life in ways that feel authentic and meaningful to them. You’ll work approximately 5–10 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends.  A programming stipend will also be allocated to each connector along with staff support and an accountability structure.

This is a highly relational, creative, and rewarding position, ideal for someone who loves meeting new people and sparking community connections.

Schedule Information

Flexible schedule; includes evenings and weekends based on program needs and family availability.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Build genuine, trusting relationships with young families through one-on-one meetings and small group gatherings.

Design and lead three programs each month (two at the MNjcc and one in a neighborhood setting), shaped by participants’ interests and needs.

Support families in finding deeper connections to Jewish life, learning, and community.

Encourage and empower families to create and co-lead experiences that feel meaningful to them.

Connect families to the broader MNjcc community and other local Jewish opportunities.

Track engagement data, attendance, and expenses, and participate in monthly cohort meetings and professional development sessions.

Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal Family Connector:

Is a member of the downtown Jewish community with at least one child between 6 months and 6 years old OR 6 and 12 years old and has strong connections with other families in this stage of life.

Brings passion for Jewish life and a commitment to creating warm, inclusive community spaces.

Is friendly, approachable, and skilled at building relationships with parents raising Jewish children.

Feels comfortable organizing and facilitating programs and small-scale events and is knowledgeable about local community resources (both Jewish and general).

Is outgoing, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Has strong communication skills and is comfortable using social media, Microsoft Office, and other basic tech tools.

Can provide their own transportation to offsite events and is available to work on a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Must be legally able to work in Canada and fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (or have a valid accommodation).

Salary and Benefits

$500 monthly stipend (up to 10 months).

$300 monthly programming budget to support activities.

Access to MNjcc employee discounts and programs.
