The Managing Director provides strategic leadership across Wellness, Fitness, Recreation, Aquatics, and Membership, supporting the organization’s long-term vision and priorities. This role is responsible for guiding departmental direction, fostering strong leadership across teams, and ensuring alignment with the broader organizational strategic plan.
Working closely with the Chief Experience Officer, the Managing Director plays a central role in shaping strategy, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, ensuring operational excellence, and enhancing the overall member and participant experience. This Managing Director will support the continued evolution of programs and services, ensuring they remain responsive to community needs while contributing to sustainable financial growth and organizational impact. All work within the organization ladders up to the strategic plan.
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week/regular schedule. Â
- Some evening and weekend work is required.
- This position is an in-person role and requires working on-site.
- Salary is $90,000 - $105,000 annually, based on experience.
Description
Strategy, Finance & Operations
Lead strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance across Wellness, Fitness, Recreation, Aquatics, and Membership.
Drive revenue growth, engagement, retention, and operational efficiency.
Build scalable systems, KPIs, and performance dashboards.
Oversee program innovation, service delivery, and operational excellence.
Ensure regulatory compliance, safety, and risk management standards.
Leadership & Team Development
Build and lead high-performing leadership teams.
Drive a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
Coach, mentor, and develop department leaders.
Promote collaboration and cross-functional alignment.

Member Experience & Growth
Align programming and services with evolving community needs.
Strengthen onboarding, engagement, and service excellence practices.
Support membership growth, retention, and satisfaction.

Lead with initiative and step in when needed to support priorities.
Create and support a strong, collaborative team environment that drives overall success.
Communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and in person.
Build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Attend staff training functions, meetings, and, on occasion, social events.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Recreation Management, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or a related field
5+ years of senior leadership experience in wellness, fitness, recreation, aquatics, hospitality, or multi-site operations.
Proven experience managing $1M+ operating budgets.
Strong people leadership, financial acumen, and strategic capability.
Track record of driving growth, innovation, and operational transformation.
Collaborative, high-integrity leader with strong executive presence.

Salary and Benefits
Annual salary range: $90,000 - $105,000 commensurate with experience.
