    Reports to Manager of After School Program and Camp 

    Short Description of the Position:

    • If you love working with children then this job is for you. We are looking for committed and reliable people who are positive and love working with children. The Miles Nadal JCC After School Program provides age-appropriate, stimulating and safe activities for school-age children. Monday to Friday (Flexibility with days worked); 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm from September to June

    Starts November 2018 - Reports to Director of Children’s Education

    Short Description of the Position:

    The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre is seeking an experienced RECE Supervisor for its Toddler classes.   Preference will be given to candidates who:

    • are registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators
    • have supervisory experience
    • have worked in the field for a minimum of 2 years
    • have good interpersonal skills
    • have strong organizational skills 
    • have strong knowledge of the current Child and Early Years Act

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensuring that the Childcare is being run in a manner that is acceptable to the Miles Nadal JCC’s policies and guidelines and adheres to Ministry of Education requirements.
    • Maintaining all necessary children’s and staff’s documents needed to be in compliance with the Ministry of Education
    • Ensuring that childcare is in compliance with the Child Early Years Act
    • Preparing of all mandatory packages, updating parent handbook, policies, allergy lists.
    • Carrying out and logging necessary drills (monthly fire drills and annual lockdown drills).
    • Staffing:
      • Training of staff, assisting teachers with program planning, holding monthly staff meetings.
      • Acquiring supply staff when necessary to adhere to Ministry ratio guidelines.
      • Completing Annual staff evaluations.
    • giving tours of facilities to new and prospective families
    • Liaising with parents to discuss the development of their children; introduction of new parents to Childcare. Attending necessary building meetings
    • On-going purchasing of supplies
    • Organizing catering meal counts; ensuring that these are sent in a timely fashion
    • Ensuring snacks are organized for the week coming; AM snack purchased at the local grocery store
    • Liaising with outside resources when necessary, i.e. speech, occupational therapists, etc.
    • Coordinating special events and holiday programming.
    • Being a part of the staff ratio for 25% of working hours.
    • Assisting the Director of Children’s Education when necessary.
      • Lifting of young children when necessary.
      • Diapering of children when necessary
      • Room bookings for all programs and rooms used
      • Ensuring that teachers or Supervisor provide children with programming for Jewish holidays and Shabbat

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Current RECE
    • Clear vulnerable sector screening (done within 6 months of start date with us)
    • Current First Aid/CPR
    • Ability to communicate easily with parents and staff
    • Familiarity with Learn Through Play/Elect learning models
    • Physical Demands:
      • Supervisor will be required to lift children if necessary.

    Salary and Benefits:

    • Range: $45,000 - $50,000, plus Provincial Wage Enhancement Grant when eligible
