    The Recreation and Athletics department focuses on children's programming that nourishes a love for play and encourages staying active. Our programs are led by certified coaches and, with a focus on gross motor and program specific skills, we ensure that play and skill-building go hand-in-hand.     The programs reinforce the benefits of teamwork and skills development rather than the importance of winning, enabling children to gain the confidence and develop the social skills necessary to succeed in sport and life.

    Parents and caregivers can have a direct hand in a preschooler’s development through our range of Multi-Sport programs. Sportball Junior and Parent & Tot and Multi-sport programs teach children important introductory physical skills and help them develop confidence in their abilities.

    This 45-minute program is a perfect introduction to Sportball. Children and parents participate in sports, creative games, songs, rhymes, stories, bubble time and much more. Although these programs focus more on exploration, children will be introduced to a different sport each week. Parents are encouraged to participate with their child and challenge them according to their skill level.

    Mega Hoops is an inclusive children's basketball program in collaboration with the Ontario Basketball Association. OBA-certified instructors will teach physical literacy, fundamental movement and basketball skills in a supportive environment, guided by Canadian Sport for Life principles. Kids will also try Wheelchair-basketball with the Wheelchair Sports Association.

    Instruction will focus on individual skills, team participation, and fundamentals of the game such as passing, shooting and stick handling. Always a balance between skill-building and fun.

    Jump on bouncy castles, climb through tunnels, shoot some mini-hoops! Our ever-popular Jungle Gym gives young ones a place to run around in a safe, indoor, unstructured play space.

    This extension of Youth Karate is a perfect introduction to Karate that fosters a challenging and safe, non-violent environment while building the strength and confidence to avoid conflict.

    This is an exclusive training program for youth (12-17 yrs) from the Hanlan Boat Club.
