We’re Not Waiting

I’ve been wished a ‘Refuah Shlema’, a full recovery, more times than I can count. But with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), the symptoms that I experience are a part of my everyday existence. When we only think of pain and fatigue as something to be cured or recovered from, we erase the reality of so many people living with chronic illness, including those with genetic conditions like EDS.

This exhibit, featuring the work of award winning photographer, Chorong Kim, celebrates people with EDS living our lives, in whatever way works for us. Not waiting for society to create space, but finding a way forward ourselves. Whether it’s watching a favourite Netflix show in bed, embroidering with braces on, connecting with the Disability community, finding a way to write, work, research or do whatever it is we care about; we’re here, and we’re not waiting.
