Al Green Theatre Usher – Casual

A member of the front of house team, the usher is responsible for the overall customer experience of the patrons and guests of the Al Green Theatre. Their primary function is to greet guests, uphold theatre policy and ensure the overall safety of the patrons. The Al Green Theatre is a fast-paced, professional and collaborative work environment. Working hours vary as they are based on the theatre bookings calendar – staffing schedules are determined on a monthly basis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety of patrons
  • Provide effective customer service to both patrons and event planners/participants
  • Lead patrons out of the building during emergency evacuations
  • Control theatre entrance (ripping tickets/maintaining accurate capacity numbers)
  • Patron management (seating patrons, informing patrons of theatre policies, dispute resolution, answering questions, addressing concerns, etc.)
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Experience in customer service/front line public relations is required
  • Experience in theatre/special events is required
  • First Aid & CPR certification is required (training will be provided)
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Quick problem solving skills
  • Team player
  • Strong logistics skills
  • Adaptable
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada
Salary and Benefits:
  • $11.40 – $11.65 hourly
  • 4% Vacation Pay
  • Use the Fitness Centre based on number of days worked
  • Two MNjcc guest passes per annum
  • Two free 30 minute FITT checks (fitness assessments)
  • Member rate for all programs
  • Staff rate on Personal Training
