Ukulele
BEGINNER PLUS - Sometimes called the world’s friendliest instrument, the ukulele has a happy, joyful tone that makes it a delight to play. In this course, you will refresh skills learned in the beginner class; posture, tuning, foundatinal chords, and strumming. The materials will prepare you for joining the intermediate level later in the season. Registration is ongoing and fees are adjusted based on start date. More information gretchena@mnjcc.org
INTERMEDIATE - Take your uke to the next level! If you’ve taken our beginners' class (or have previous playing experience) this course will provide you with new music genres as well as improve your skills and techniques. In no time at all you will learn new chords, read TAB, fingerpick, and even work on basic improvisation! Registration is ongoing and fees are adjusted based on start date. Klezmer Ensemble
Come join the winter term led by multi-instrumentalist and Ashkenaz Festival Artistic Director, Eric Stein. Toronto's longest-running klezmer workshop program offers a friendly and relaxed environment to get deep in the music within a group context. Immerse in the vocabulary and forms of klezmer music while exploring approaches to rhythm, melody and improvisation. Learn how to play as part of an ensemble, with special attention to instrumental function, arrangement principles, and dynamics. All intermediate through professional players are welcome and no prior klezmer experience is necessary. Whether you're a diehard or neophyte, this group will scratch your Klezmer itch. Registration is ongoing and fees are adjusted based on start date.

String Ensemble
Our Wednesday evening adult string ensembles is for adults who wish to reconnect and explore string ensemble music (violin, viola, or cello). With a variety of ensemble music, we will explore Suzuki group class ideas, build ensemble skills, and examine concepts for left hand and bowing. Assignments and exercises will be at an intermediate level using compatible repertoire for cello, viola, and violin, possibly referencing Suzuki repertoire books, and/or RCM repertoire grade 3 level and beyond. My Pop Choir - Daytime
When you join My Pop Choir it will quickly become the highlight of your week. For each session we will be rehearsing in-person with the option to “hop” over to the virtual choir if you are unable to make it. Participants will have access to charts, vocal tracks, and instrumental tracks. There is no pressure to perform. We will all sing for the love of singing! Conductor: Iain Steward. Give Peace A Chance: Sixties Folk Tribute Concert - Thursday, Jun 6, 1-2:30 pm
Popular folk singing duo Sue and Dwight return to the Miles Nadal JCC this spring! This in-person tribute concert will feature timeless songs of peace, love, freedom and hope written by legendary folk musicians Pete Seeger, Peter, Paul and Mary, Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Joan Baez and more. Let us raise our voices together in song, and “imagine all the people living life in peace”.

Up on the Roof: Yiddish Café featuring Yosl and the Yingels - Thursday, June 27, 2:30-4:30 pm
Enjoy an afternoon of music and Mameloshn at our first ever Rooftop Yiddish Café! An homage to the great European Yiddish cafes and coffeehouses, this in-person event will feature a Yiddish concert performed by Yosl and the Yingels, a Yiddish swing and folk band who fuse together classic Jewish European folk songs with Yiddish big band and theatre music. We will also have a Yiddish open-mic portion, for those wishing to read poetry, prose or perform an acapella song. Traditional kosher desserts will be served. Co-presented by the Committee for Yiddish. Presented in partnership with Grodzinski Bakery.
