This is an interactive, baby-led 5-week massage program for parents and their babies, facilitated by a registered massage therapist with certification in infant/child massage therapy.
Parents will learn the techniques and skills of baby massage; including the ideal timing, positioning, oil/lotion, environment and stroke techniques/pressure to use. Each week massage strokes for various areas of the body will be introduced and practiced. Techniques will be demonstrated by the RMT on a doll and parents will practice on their baby or on a doll if the baby is not ready for the massage. Special techniques such as a gas/colic routine, massage for older children and relaxation methods will be introduced during the program. There will be opportunities for parents to chat informally and share their relevant parenting experiences.
