The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre (MNjcc) has welcomed over two million people to the corner of Bloor and Spadina during the building’s 60+ year history. The changing makeup of our membership is a testament not only to the vibrancy and diversity of the Annex — but to Toronto’s own evolution. We provide opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to be active, learn, connect and participate in a wide range of cultural experiences. Rooted in Jewish values, the MNjcc is open to all.

The MNjcc is home to a 3,800 member state of the art Fitness Centre, the 285 seat Al Green Theatre, four schools, three choirs, a wide range of arts and cultural activities, Jewish Life programming, and a robust Active 55+ program. It is a founding member of the Bloor Street Cultural Corridor, and the lead organizer of the annual Annex Family Festival.

In 1953 we moved from Brunswick Avenue to this intersection and in 2004 we reopened a brand new centre, thanks to the support of the community through UJA federation, the Tomorrow Campaign and the lead gift from Miles Nadal. Through the years we have not only offered a home to the Jewish community, but to immigrants and artists, young families and seniors. In fact, throughout our 60+year history, our membership has been 50 percent Jewish and 50 percent non-Jewish, reflecting our wide and diverse population!

The vital role of a community centre is more important today than ever. The MNjcc offers a complete range of recreational, educational, and arts and cultural programs so that our neighbourhood can come together as one.

It isn’t just about what you receive at a centre like the Miles Nadal JCC, but about what you take with you when you leave — and what you give back. We are proud of the role the MNjcc has played in creating city leaders, building lifelong friendships and offering a foundation for families – a place where families can grow, where they can connect, where, in fact, they belong.

Welcome from the Executive Director

Welcome to the Miles Nadal JCC and its new Fall-Winter season.   You have discovered us – now join us and experience all we have on offer! The downtown JCC at the corner of Spadina and Bloor continues to be that magical magnet that has attracted our community for 63 years. Just walk in the front door where everyone in the neighbourhood – and beyond – feels welcome.

We are part of a network of three JCCs right across the GTA – that start downtown and make their way north, offering a wide range of services and programs for everyone.

So, come and experience us.  Experience our music programs with four choirs, the Suzuki music program or the Klezmer ensemble.  Experience a Fitness class, have your child experience the Libbie Cowan Childcare or Thomas & Marjorie Schwartz Preschool. Then there’s all the family fun of our annual Chanukah and Purim parties and weekly Jungle Gym. Experience the Toronto Jewish Film Society, or the Floor Hockey league or our new Tummies to Mummies pre-natal classes. Everywhere you will experience the rich life on offer at the Miles Nadal JCC.

Welcome from the Board of Directors

Welcome to another exciting New Year at the Miles Nadal JCC. We are excited to usher in the fall season with our families and participants as we unveil new facilities and new programs. The time is finally here for everyone to dive in and enjoy our state-of-the-art, fully accessible saltwater pool. This effort wouldn’t have been possible without your patience, loyalty, and financial support.

Now is the time to enjoy what we have built together. Other areas of our building are just as exciting, with the renewed energy that the fall and winter seasons bring. Be sure to take in an opera lecture, visit an exhibit in our gallery, or share holiday celebrations with all generations of your family. You’ll find it all here!

The New Year will also bring new occasions to explore your connection to the JCC with volunteer and leadership opportunities. We’re looking for the next generation of JCC and City leaders. Let us know if you are interested in being part of building our vibrant downtown community. We are interested in you! Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm. See you in the pool!
